Hello,

Regarding that matter we talked about a little while ago -- about possibly building a pair of wings? -- I found some very nice diagrams in my book on butterflies on how they fly. If you're still interested in doing that, we can start at any time. I live in B building, room 187.

Hello,

Er -- does anyone know anything about constructing a set of wings? It's for a potential project I have. I know it's a bit of an unusual request, but any help would be appreciated.

I've turned my coat into a hang-glider, so I suppose I have some experience in the matter. What did you want to know?

Er -- anything and everything, I suppose. I've never done anything like this before. A young lady I met here suggested we ought to after -- I mentioned wanting to fly. She said she was good at building things, but I thought it would be prudent to get all the help I could. I'm no mechanic.

I see. Interesting little project. I've been inventing things for years, and my own wings were a rather involved project, so whatever you think you need help on, you can just ask me, all right?

(And I can vouch for the fact that flying is absolutely incredible. One of the few good things about the weather powers the Rift gave me.)

Thank you very much, Dr. Brown. It's quite appreciated.

(You can fly? And control the weather? The Rift was kind to you. Better than it was to me.)

Not a problem, Victor. I like doing this sort of thing.

(Depends on what you mean by "kind." My weather control is tied to my emotional state, so I have a tendency to create minor storms every time I get into a bad mood. I've managed to get the ability mostly under control, but there's still the occasional rain- or windstorm.

What did it give to you?)

Thank you just the same.

(Oh, I see. That's rather more troublesome, yes.

Ah -- I -- I apparently 'die' and leave my body whenever I get sufficiently afraid. It's terribly embarrassing. Luckily it hasn't happened again recently.)

(Great Scott. Yes, I can see how that might be a problem. I hope you get it under control, kid.)

(I'll be happy enough if it doesn't ever happen again.)

Hello Victor,

Of course, I will dedicate myself to helping with this project until its completion. I see someone else (Dr Brown?) has offered to help, this will increase our chances of succeeding, and also quicken the pace of our work.

We should meet to look over these diagrams you mention, and begin to plan. When do you next have room in your schedule? ... I am free 24 hours a day.

(ooc: terribly sorry about the late'ness of this reply and lack of reply to the original thread we had going, my computer crashed on me :/ )

Hello Cameron,

Yes, I've talked with Dr. Brown over the journals before. He seems quite nice -- he should be able to help us quite a bit.

I really don't have anything else to do -- you could come over this afternoon if you like.

(OOC: Ouch. :( That's okay. Glad you were able to get things up and running again.)

(ooc: I must’ve picked the worst time ever to join an rpg because I’ve had persistent internet failings, exams, and some family issues that cropped up, and I know, excuses!, but I do absolutely feel awful about being the suckiest rpger ever :( I just wanted to let you know I hadn’t intentionally abandoned the Rift for these past few weeks, and I do want to get stuck into it, but it’s been a bad couple of months! So, yes, I’m really sorry about that :/ Anyway, what with summer and free time and things looking up, I’m crawling back and looking apologetic and wondering if it’s possible to start up again? Oh and sorry this is all ooc, I just, err, wanted to ask first before I wrote anything Cameron’ish. *rambling over*)

(OOC: Yikes, I see. That really sucks -- though you're not alone in the exams thing, from what I've seen around. Everybody seems to be really busy at the moment.

I have no objections to starting up again! I did want to ask how you wanted to handle this -- RP post over here in [livejournal.com profile] deadgirlsliekme? (Never really done this before myself -- anything like this with Doc ended up being handled totally 'offscreen,' as it were.) And no problem -- just glad to see you haven't up and disappeared completely. :))

You mean where will the plot go? I’m not sure, we could just start it off and see organically where it leads/if they succeed in building wings that fly and then whatever that leads to, or perhaps in the middle of building them they discover something entirely different, or end up doing something/becoming involved in something else.... Hm, vaguest plot plan ever, I’m sorry xD Maybe we need a brain storm! I have no long term plan for Cam right now, other than her gradually trying to interact with people/act better and be more 'human', and then I guess at some point someone will realise she's not, and she'll realise she's not, but when/how I have no idea ^_^ So anything is fine with me! I’m happy to fit in with you since Victor’s been around longer/had more development/plot. Is there anything you want it to lead to for him? Like character development, or something to do with those Rift powers he has?

Or, yeah, I mean, it could just be handled offscreen, and we could fast forward in a sense to when the wings have been built and... see what happens!

Heh, that's okay, I didn't think much about where it would go either. Victor doesn't have any real long term plans either, beyond discovering he can activate his Rift power at will and what he can do as a ghost. Though he's still pondering a little the metaphysical bits of his and Cameron's previous conversation. Chicago's a scary, mixed-up years-after-his-time place -- but it's nowhere near as stuffy and repressed as Burtonsville. And his old reputation's been completely wiped out -- he's no longer rich, but neither do people look down on him for being the son of fish merchants who do everything they can to advance their social status. It's a complicated mess in his head, and he's trying to come to terms with the idea that -- maybe he isn't as homesick as he thinks he should be. (/rambling about character's mental state)

Er, anyway -- I'd like to do at least one building session, just for the heck of it. Then maybe we could fast forward a bit. *shrugs*

Hehe, don’t worry, I love hearing rambling about characters, it’s always interesting to get a deeper insight from the writer!

Okay, sounds great! So, we’ll have them attempt to build something and see how it goes from there!; do you want to post an entry at the Rift LJ for them? I’m happy for you to set it up however you like :)

Heh, so do I. It's interesting to find out what makes them tick.

I've seen people do this sort of thing in the personal LJs, actually, so I'll make a post here in Victor's in a bit and we can take it from there.
