These were originally posted over at
docsgirl, but I figured I'd put them here too, to keep them handy for reference purposes.
First, Victor's in-character 14-question survey:
1. What would your character kill for? What would they die for? K-kill? I don't think I could kill anyone. . . But I think I'd be willing to die for someone I loved. If they were someone very important.
2. What would they refuse to do under any circumstances? Why? Well, according to the above question, I suppose kill. I don't think I could ever take a human life. It's -- it's just not in me. I don't like to hurt people at all, really.
3. What do they dream about? [Either literal or figurative, specify please.] My sleeping dreams aren't any different than anyone else's, I'm sure. Though I do tend to dream a lot about flying. . . . As for my life dream. . .w-well, I always knew I'd have to take over my father's factory, but -- I-I always wanted to go into lepidopterology -- the study of butterflies and the like. Even just as a hobby.
4. What’s their biggest fear?Everything Disappointing people. Mostly my parents, but. . . I don't want to be a failure. I -- I want people to be proud of me. Too bad I'm so
5. What single object would they be most hard pressed to part with? Why? My sketchbook. I love to draw. I find it very soothing, and quite enjoyable. And it's easier to carry than my other choice, the piano.
6. What is their fondest memory? Getting Scraps. I was four and a half, and Father came home from work one evening with a little puppy in his arms. He asked me if we should keep him, and -- I was a little nervous at first, but then the puppy barked and licked my nose and I said yes. He rapidly became my best friend. Mother never liked him, though.
7. What is their worst memory? W-when I was six, I -- I was playing with Scraps in a field a short distance from my house. I twisted my ankle tripping over a tree root. It hurt so badly I couldn't get up. (Thankfully, it turned out to be just sprained, not broken.) I sent Scraps to get Mother and Father, but --
No one noticed I was missing for a hour.
They were all in a tizzy when they finally found me, and took me straight to the doctor, but. . . .
8. What or who was were their most significant influence? Expound. I-I'm not sure. I suppose Mother and Father. They were very strict with me, always made sure I was polite and quiet. They wanted the "perfect" son, the kind of boy they would be proud to show in society. I-I try, I really do. . . .
9. What do they believe makes a successful life?Being anyone except me Getting along well with others, doing well at your work, and getting married and raising a proper family. Always being polite and -- and doing your best.
10. What makes them laugh? *blush* I, er, I'm actually quite ticklish. . . . And I do love a good joke or riddle.
11. What are their religious views? I -- we went to church regularly, and I believe in God and Heaven and Hell, but -- with the appearance of that corpse bride, my beliefs have been rather shaken. . . (And Victoria and Tie-Twister have told me of the Land of the Dead, which confuses me even more.)
12. What is their greatest strength? Er -- I'm polite. . . . And I'm a particularly good climber. . . .
13. Do they have a fatal flaw? If so, what is it? I'm clumsy. Horribly clumsy. I bump into everything, fall into people, stub my toe regularly, walk into doorframes. . . . And I have this awful habit of blurting out embarrassing things. I'm also painfully shy.
14. Who is the most important person in their life? Speaking my current standpoint in the games, Mother and Father, I suppose. I never had much in the way of friends, and they were the greatest influence on my life. In the Museverse, however -- Alice. She's simply amazing.Deserves so much better than me.
And second, 20 questions about his life and possible sexual habits. Which was amusingly awkward.
01.) Full name? Victor Fitzwilliam Van Dort – the Fitzwilliam comes from the first name of Mr. Darcy from “Pride and Prejudice.” Victor hates it.
02.) Best friend? Poor Victor never really had many friends back home – he’d probably say his old puppy Scraps. He doesn’t do well with people.
03.) Sexuality? Straight male
04.) Favorite color? Blue
05.) Relationship status? Complicated – before Rift he was engaged to Victoria Everglot and had accidentally married the Corpse Bride. But after Rift, he’d probably call himself single, since he has no idea what’s going to happen if/when he gets home. (Museverse relationship with Alice)
06.) Ideal mate? Somebody willing to put up with him being kinda klutzy and shy, who shares his love of music and drawing.
07.) Turn-ons? Musical talent, backrubs, having his hair stroked (he’s surprisingly touchy-feely at times)
08.) Last sexual experience? A few weeks before the wedding rehearsal, Victor found himself needing to relax. So that night he snuck out one of his favorite penny dreadful chapters and read it over again. Said chapter was one of the “naughtier” chapters, and, well – Victor got “urges.” XD
09.) Favorite food? Ice cream. Blame Babel and her neverending Rocky Road for that.
10.) Crushes? The girls in his penny dreadfuls, most often. He’s too shy to get proper crushes on real women. Though he liked Victoria Everglot a fair bit, so she probably counts.
11.)Favorite music? Piano concertos – he likes all of the greats, like Mozart.
12.) Biggest fear?Everything Being abandoned because he did something wrong.
13.) Biggest fantasy? Being a hero like in the books and penny dreadfuls – being brave and smart and loved by practically everyone. On the more realistic scale, he’d like to discover a whole new species of butterfly one day.
14.) Quirks in bed? Somehow I see him as the one usually on the bottom. And imagine what he could do with those fingers. . . .
15.) Bad habits? He’s klutzy. Startle him and things tend to go flying. He also stammers when he’s nervous or upset. He’s got this tendency to yank on his tie as well, which is probably going to lead to him inadvertently strangling himself one day.
16.) Biggest regret? Not being able to be the “perfect son” his parents want. He tries, he really does, but he’s just too different from the ideal they built up in their heads.
17.) Best kept secrets? The penny dreadfuls he keeps under his mattress back home. Victor absolutely LOVES those trashy stories, no matter how gory or weird they get. He’d probably enjoy comic books in the modern day.
On a darker note, there’s one incident Victor’s sworn never to tell anybody. When he was fifteen, he had a really bad day where absolutely nothing was going right and his mother screamed at him to “stop embarrassing her.” Victor was so upset that that night – he came very close to slitting his throat with his father’s straight razor. Fortunately a noise in the house startled him, and he dropped the razor and ran back to his room. Nobody ever found out, and Victor’s made an effort not to let himself get that low ever again.
18.) Last thought? Probably “Oh GOD,” or “I knew this was going to happen one day.”
19.) Worst sexual/romantic experience? The whole day before he fell through the Rift, honestly. Screwing up his vows at the rehearsal, setting his future mother-in-law on fire, fleeing to the woods, and finally marrying a freaking corpse by accident. Victor has no luck.
20.) Biggest insecurity?Everything . . . Actually, “everything” does kind of sum it up. He’s constantly worried he’s going to do something wrong or disappoint people. Victor honestly doesn’t like himself very much. :(
